  • Broncos Set Commissioner's Honor Roll Record for Second Straight Year
    July 23, 2014
    The West Coast Conference announced its 13th annual Commissioner's Honor Roll Tuesday, and 141 Santa Clara Broncos were recognized with honors for their athletic success and academic excellence. Santa Clara had 18 student-athletes receive gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) and 33 student-athletes receive silver honors (3.50-3.74 GPA). The Broncos set a new record of student athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, breaking the previous mark of 133 in the 2012-13 school year.

    Santa Clara University Athletics hosted the first annual SCU Celebrity Golf Tournament – with more than 25 sports celebrities — benefitting the Bronco Bench Foundation and the Bronco women's soccer program on Mon., June 23 at the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park. Sports celebrities included former Super Bowl Champion players, a World Series Champion Manager, a Super Bowl referee, a Heisman Trophy Winner, World Cup Champions, Olympic Gold Medalists, MLB All-Stars, the current head coaches of the MLS Earthquakes and NHL Sharks -- the list goes on and on! In his first day as an EYEBRONCO reporter, men's basketball senior Yannick Atanga caught up with a number of the celebrities to talk World Cup soccer!

    Santa Clara women's soccer has added a game to it's spring schedule to bring the total to five games. The Broncos will face the Sacramento Storm for the second time on Sun., May 4 at 3 p.m. at Buck Shaw in the final game of the spring season. Earlier this spring season Santa Clara and the Storm tied 1-1.

    Santa Clara women’s soccer officially announced the hiring of Lisa Oyen Ljubicic as the Director of Women’s Soccer Operations. Oyen served in the same role last season in a volunteer capacity. This is the first time in the history of Santa Clara women’s soccer that the Broncos will have a full-time Director of Operations.

  • Santa Clara Extends Jerry Smith's Contract Seven Years; Announces Jerry Smith Coaching For Life Academy

    Santa Clara University announced on Wednesday it has extended Bronco head women's soccer coach Jerry Smith’s contract for seven years. Smith is one of only three coaches in Division I women’s soccer to have won more than 400 career matches. In addition to leading the Broncos to the 2001 National Championship, Smith has seen the women reach the Final Four 10 times as well as winning 10 West Coast Conference titles in his 27-year history with the program.
  • Santa Clara Women's Soccer Coach Jerry Smith Has Contract Extended Seven Years

    On a big day for Santa Clara Athletics, it was announced women’s soccer head coach Jerry Smith had his contract extended by seven years. Smith, who will be in his 28th season leading the Broncos in 2014, has built Santa Clara into a national presence. His success culminated with the 2001 national championship. Smith’s Broncos have advanced to 10 Final Fours and won 10 West Coast Conference titles.

Ten individuals, one from each member institution, will be honored as part of the 2014 West Coast Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships from March 6-11 at the Orleans Arena.
