Two Broncos Called to U-20 National Team Camp

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Continuing to put forth top-notch U-20 players, Santa Clara's sophomores Dani Weatherholt and Andi Tostanoski are two of the 27 players called to the U-20 camp by U.S. head coach Michelle French. The camp will take place from July 2-11 at the University of Portland. The U.S. is preparing to play qualifying matches to reach to 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada.

Last Year the Bronco First-Team All-American Julie Johnston captained the U.S. squad to a victory over in Japan.

"I feel so privileged to be apart of this pool of very talented players," said Weatherholt. "While playing with the U.S., you not only represent yourself and your community, but you also represent your country. During my summer training I am focusing on improving my leadership, strength and technical skills on the field to help make a stronger impact for the Broncos.

This is the second time Tostanoski has been to the U-20 camp. Her first time came in April of 2013.

"It's a really amazing feeling to know people are noticing you," said Tostanoski. "All of the hard work is paying off and the chance to play for your country is incredible. I'm so thankful for the opportunity. The speed of play and the competitive nature are something I look forward to because it helped me become a better player."

"The highest level, and biggest honor, in the sport of soccer is to represent your country in a World Cup or Olympic Games," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "We are very proud of them. The Santa Clara University Women's Soccer Program has always been, and will continue to be a place where elite players come to grow and develop toward their potential and challenge themselves to compete at the highest levels. So, we look forward to helping them achieve their goal of making the U.S. U-20 National Team."

Weatherholt was named All-WCC Honorable Mention and to the WCC All-Freshman team in 2012, as well as being named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Team of the Year. She started all 22 games for Santa Clara and scored five goals while adding two assists. Her five goals was third on the team and her 12 points was fourth. Weatherholt scored the Santa Clara goal in the second round in the NCAA Tournament match at Stanford.

Tostanoski, a WCC All-Freshman Team selection, started 20 games for the Broncos and had a 1.14 GAA. She collected 73 saves with a .767 save percentage and had seven shutouts. Tostanoski made a career-high 11 saves at BYU in a 1-1 tie.
