UPDATED: Women's Soccer Remains Perfect in WCC Play with 2-0 Win at Pacific

Originally Sofia Huerta was awarded both goals. A change was made to credit Dani Weatherholt with the first Santa Clara goal.

STOCKTON, Calif. – Facing a new conference foe, No. 14 Santa Clara women's soccer beat Pacific by a final of 2-0. The win puts the Broncos at 10-3-1 overall and 4-0-0 in WCC play while the Tigers are now 2-9-3 overall at 1-2-1 in conference action.

Santa Clara returns to the field on Sun., Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. vs. San Francisco.

The Broncos outshot Pacific 15-14 but were bested in shots on goal 8-6. Sofia Huerta and Dani Weatherholt led the offense with one goal each while Julie Johnston and Sarah Jackson each had one assist. Andi Tostanoski made eight saves in net for Santa Clara.

The Broncos took the lead in the 16th minute off the foot of Weatherholt and never looked back. Jackson sent a pass across the box to Weatherholt who put the ball in into the right corner of the net for her seventh goal of the season.

In the 27th minute Huerta struck to put Santa Clara up by a pair of goals at 2-0. Johnston passed to Huerta who sent a shot on the ground from the right side of the box to the back post and into the net.

Neither team was able to score in the second half and the Broncos sealed the 2-0 win to remain perfect in WCC action and stay tied atop the conference standings. Santa Clara is now on a six-game winning streak and has lost just once since the opening weekend of the season.
