Women's Soccer Tops LMU 2-0 on the Road

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Looking for its first West Coast Conference win of the season, Santa Clara women's soccer topped LMU by a final of 2-0. The win puts the Broncos at 8-5-0 overall and 1-1-0 in WCC play while the Lions are 7-4-1 and 0-2-0 in conference action.

Santa Clara returns to the field Sun., Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. at San Francisco.

Santa Clara outshot LMU 17-2 and shots on goal were 7-0 in favor of the Broncos. Sofia Huerta led the way for the Bronco offense with a goal and an assist while Mariana Galvan had a goal and Megan Crosson added an assist. Andi Tostanoski didn't have to make any saves in net.

Santa Clara got the early lead in the 30th minute on the 10th of the season from Huerta. Crosson passed to Huerta at the top of the box and she ripped a shot the far post that beat the goalkeeper.

Santa Clara outshot LMU 6-1 and shots on goal were 3-0 in favor of the Broncos in the first half. Huerta led the way for the Bronco offense with the goal while Crosson has the assist.

In the 88th minute the Broncos added another goal to go up 2-0. Huerta passed to Galvan who beat the keeper with a shot to the post. It was the first goal of her collegiate career.
