SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After a win in the opening round, Santa Clara women's soccer travels to Stanford to play Arizona Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Broncos took down Long Beach State 1-0 in the first round Nov. 14. The winner moves on to play the winner of Stanford vs. BYU on Saturday at noon. Santa Clara is one of 18 teams in the nation with both its men's and women's teams in the NCAA tournament.

Santa Clara (14-5-2, 6-1-2 WCC) is No. 12 in the NSCAA poll and No. 24 in the RPI with four wins over teams in the RPI top-50 (No. 5 StanfordNo. 41 LMU, No. 43 Long Beach StateNo. 50 Oklahoma). The Broncos went 6-2-1 at home this year with a win over Stanford. They are undefeated in their last seven games overall.

"You're always looking to try to get any advantage you can," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "It's going to be a tough game because their style of play is very different. There are only two or three other teams in the country that play their style. The fact that we've played them this year and that one of the other teams to play their style is San Diego will help us. Also, playing close to home will be an advantage for us."

Julie Vass leads Santa Clara with eight goals, including four in the final two games. She added an assist for a team-best 17 points. Grace Cutler has scored six goals, including the lone goal in the Broncos first round win, and added an assist for 11 points. Mariana Galvan has three goals, all double-overtime game-winners. Megan Crosson is second in the West Coast Conference with seven assists.

Andi Tostanoski has started all 20 games and allowed just 12 goals for a 0.56 GAA. She has 88 saves for a .880 save percentage, which was good for No. 6 in the country. Tostanoski and the Broncos have 11 shutouts.

Santa Clara is 1-2-1 all-time vs. Arizona. Earlier this year, the teams matched up in Tucson with Arizona winning 2-1. The first meeting between the schools came in 2007.

Arizona (13-5-2, 6-4-1 Pac 12) lost its final regular season game to Arizona State. The Wildcats had been on a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1). They beat Northern Colorado at home in the opening round of the tournament.

"Arizona has three flip-throwers that are used to get the ball up field and eventually get a corner kick," said Smith. "They've scored seven goals off of corner kicks this year which is a really high number. They're really good in the air and are a very physical and athletic team. We'll try to get the ball on the ground and control the tempo. We did those things pretty well in our first game. The difference in that game was that they converted a penalty kick and we missed ours. I expect this next game will be very tight and even, just like the first meeting."

Gabi Stoian leads Arizona with six goals, eight assists, and 20 points. Hayley Estopare is second on the team with five goals and has two assists. Jaden DeGracie has seven assists to go with two goals. Hanna Stevens has found the back of the net four times and added three helpers. Ten other Wildcats have at least one goal and seven have at least one assist.

There has been a time-share in net between Lainey Burdett and Rachel Estopare. Burdett has played in 14 games and allowed 13 goals for a 1.09 GAA. She has 43 saves and a .768 save percentage. Estopare has been in 11 games and allowed 11 goals for a 1.28 GAA. She has made 32 saves for a .744 save percentage. The duo has amassed nine shutouts on the year.
