Women's Soccer Faces Seattle Thursday in Exhibition

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With a long offseason about to be in the rearview mirror, No. 21 Santa Clara women's soccer begins its march towards a 26th NCAA tournament appearance with an exhibition match vs. Seattle on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Stevens Stadium.

The Broncos finished last season No. 20 in the polls with a 14-6-2 record and outscored opponents 30-15. They advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament before falling in a tight game to Arizona. All six losses were by one goal.

Julie Vass led the team with eight goals and 17 points a year ago en route to being named first team All-West Region and First Team All-WCC. Mariana Galvan scored three goals, all in double-overtime.

The biggest change for the Broncos where come in goals where they lost four-year starter and 2014 WCC Goalkeeper of the Year Andi Tostanoski. The goalkeeping corps will consist of two freshmen and sophomore Melissa Lowder who played a total of 75 minutes in 2015.

Seattle was 14-3-3 last season with an 8-0-2 mark in the WAC. The Redhawks fell in the WAC tournament 2-0 and did not reach the NCAA tournament. They outscored opponents 40-14.

Karli White is the team's top returning scorer. White finished second on the team with nine goals, seven assists, and 25 points. Two other returners each scored twice last year.

The Redhawks are also looking at a change in net with Abby Bouck the only keeper on the roster to see action last season. She played 45 minutes without a chance.
