Southern California Trip for Women's Soccer Starts at No. 19 Pepperdine Friday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After a week off from game action, Santa Clara women's soccer heads to Southern California for a showdown with big West Coast Conference implications. The Broncos play at No. 19 Pepperdine Friday at 3 p.m. The Waves currently lead the WCC.

Santa Clara is 14-8 all-time against Pepperdine with the first meeting coming in 1994. Last season the Broncos topped the Waves 1-0 in double overtime. The last meeting in Malibu was a 2-1 loss for Santa Clara in 2014.

Before their bye week, the Broncos beat Pacific 3-0 and Saint Mary's 2-1.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (5-5-4, 2-1-1) controls its own destiny in the quest for an 11th WCC title. If the Broncos win their remaining five matches they will win the outright crown and an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Jordan Jesolva leads the team with five goals and three assists. Jenna Roering is second with three goals while Julie Vass and Kellie Peay have each found the back of the net twice. Three other Santa Clara players have scored one goal each. Eight Broncos have picked up an assist this season.

Melissa Lowder has played in 11 games and has allowed just two goals in her past five games. She has allowed nine goals for a 0.80 GAA and has made 35 saves for a .795 save percentage. Lowder has four shutouts on the year and Santa Clara has five as a team.

THE WAVES
Pepperdine (9-3-3, 4-0-1) is the last unbeaten team in conference play. The Waves are on a seven match unbeaten streak (5-0-2) with a win over No. 5 BYU two weeks ago.

Rylee Balsden leads the team with five goals and four assists while scoring three game-winners. Nicole Leggio has scored four goals and added three assists, both second for Pepperdine. Seven other Waves have scored at least one goal and six others have at least one assist.

Hannah Seabert has started all 15 games for Pepperdine and allowed 11 goals for a 0.70 GAA. She has made 58 saves and has a .841 save percentage while picking up three shutouts. The team has six shutouts in total.
