Women's Soccer Plays Gonzaga to Start Final Home Weekend of Regular Season

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With just three games left in the regular season, Santa Clara women's soccer continues its push to finish near the top of the West Coast Conference when it welcomes Gonzaga to Stevens Stadium Friday at 7 p.m.

The Broncos are 19-1-2 all-time against the Bulldogs with the first meeting coming in 1993. Last year Santa Clara won 3-2 in double overtime in Spokane. In 2014 the Broncos won 3-0 at Stevens Stadium.

Last week Santa Clara dropped a 2-1 match at No. 19 Pepperdine but bounced back with a 2-1 overtime victory at LMU.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (6-6-4, 3-2-1) has won three of its last four games and is 5-1-3 at home this season with the only loss coming to then-No. 10 Minnesota.

Jordan Jesolva leads the team with six goals and three assists. Jenna Roering has found the back of the net three times to go with an assist while Julie Vass and Kellie Peay have each scored twice. Five other Broncos have scored one goal each and Maddie Gonzalez is second on the team with a pair of assists.

Melissa Lowder has allowed 12 goals for a 0.90 GAA. She has made 41 saves and has a .774 save percentage to go with four shutouts. Courtney Ogren also has a shutout, giving Santa Clara five on the season.

The Broncos have not allowed more than two goals in 42 straight games, dating back to the 2014 season. They are also undefeated (8-0-6) in their last 14 overtime matches.

THE ZAGS
Gonzaga (6-7-2, 2-4) has been outscored on the season 27-23 but outshot opponents 191-143 and hold an 84-67 edge in shots on goal.

Before winning both games last week against Saint Mary's and Pacific, the Bulldogs had lost five in a row and were winless in their previous six games.

Karley Baggerly is tops on the team with five goals and 13 points and tied for second with three assists. Aliyah Miller is second on the team with four goals and has an assist. Sarah Carter has scored one goal and leads the Zags with four assists.

Sarah Swanson has appeared in 12 games and allowed 16 goals for a 1.49 GAA. She has 21 saves for a .568 save percentage and has two shutouts. Allison Seifert has also seen time in goal, allowing 11 goals in six games for a 2.32 GAA. She has made 16 saves and has a .593 save percentage to go with one shutout.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
