Arnardottir Named WCC Freshman of the Year; Six Broncos on All-Conference Teams

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer had six players honored on the All-West Coast Conference teams, including one individual award winner, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.

Gudrun Arnardottir was named Freshman of the Year as well as Second Team All-WCC and Freshman All-WCC. Jordan Jesolva was named First Team All-WCC and Kellie Peay joined Arnardottir on the second team. Melissa Lowder and Julie Vass were All-WCC honorable mention and Maddie Gonzalez was on the All-Freshman team.

Vass, a team captain, has found the back of the net twice in 2016 and added one assist. She has made her presence felt in the midfield, helping to control possession for Santa Clara.

Gonzalez finished second on the team with three goals and three assists. She appeared in all 19 games, both starting and coming off the bench. She had the assist on Jesolva's game-winner at San Francisco on Saturday.
