Second Round Showdown with No. 2 Stanford Up Next for Women's Soccer

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer travels to play at No. 2 Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Friday at 7 p.m.

Santa Clara is 19-21-7 all-time against Stanford. Earlier this year the Cardinal beat the Broncos 2-1 in Palo Alto in a tightly contested match. In the NCAA Tournament the two teams are 4-4 in eight matchups, with the last coming in 2012 when Stanford came away with a 2-1 victory.

The Broncos took down Long Beach State 3-0 on Saturday in the first round for the second straight season. It was the third time in the last four years Santa Clara beat the 49ers in the NCAA Tournament and fourth time overall.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (10-6-4) is riding a five-match winning streak and has not allowed more than one goal in a game in that stretch. The Broncos have allowed multiple goals this season in just five of 20 games. They have scored multiple goals in six of the last eight matches.

Jordan Jesolva leads the team with nine goals and four assists for 22 points. Maddie Gonzalez has found the back of the net five times and added three assists. Jenna Roering has scored three times while Julie Vass, Kellie Peay, and Natalie Kennedy have each added two goals. Three other Broncos have found the back of the net once apiece.

Melissa Lowder has allowed 13 goals in 17 games for a 0.75 GAA. She has made 50 saves and has a .794 save percentage to go with seven shutouts. Courtney Ogren also has a shutout to give Santa Clara eight on the year.

THE CARDINAL
Stanford's (18-1-1) only loss on the season came at No. 7 USC. The Cardinal also tied No. 20 Notre Dame 2-2 in September. They are currently on an eight-game winning streak and beat Houston Baptist 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Cardinal have outscored opponents 51-16 this season and outshot teams 348-145 with a 156-62 advantage in shots on goal.

Andi Sullivan leads the team with 11 goals and has added seven assists for a team-high 29 points. Kyra Carusa is tops on the roster with 10 assists and has scored five goals. Two players have seven goals each and two others have five each while nine have scored at least one goal.

Jane Campbell as allowed 13 goals in 18 games for a 0.76 GAA. She has made 39 saves for a .750 save percentage and has five shutouts. Stanford has nine shutouts as a team.
