Women's Soccer Travels to No. 5 Georgetown for NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Looking to advance to the College Cup for the 11th time in program history, Santa Clara women's soccer plays at No. 5 Georgetown in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at 9 a.m. Pacific.

To advance, Santa Clara knocked-off No. 2 and top overall seed Stanford 1-0 in double overtime on Friday. The Broncos then came back with a 3-0 win over NC State in the third round on Sunday.

It was the first win in the NCAA Tournament at Stanford for the Broncos and they are in the quarterfinals for the first time since 2005.

Santa Clara is 2-0-1 all-time against Georgetown with the first meeting coming in 2009. The last meeting was a 1-1 tie in 2012 at Stanford.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (12-6-4) is playing its best soccer of the year and just the right time. The Broncos have won seven in a row and have outscored opponents 14-2 during that stretch. They have not allowed a goal in three straight NCAA Tournament matches for the first time since 2004, the last time they made the College Cup.

Jordan Jesolva leads the team in goals (10), assists (4), and points (24). She has scored three game-winners, including the first and third round games. Maddie Gonzalez scored twice in the first round against Long Beach State and has found the back of the net five times while adding three assists. Four other Broncos have scored multiple goals and three have one goal each.

Melissa Lowder has been rock-solid in net. She has allowed 13 goals in 19 games for a 0.67 GAA. Lowder has 70 saves for a .843 save percentage and has eight shutouts on the year. Courtney Ogren has added a shutout of her own and the two combined for the shutout of NC State to give Santa Clara 10 on the season.

THE HOYAS
Georgetown (19-2-3) won the Big East conference tournament after finishing in third during the regular season. The Hoys have won four in a row and are unbeaten in their last seven (6-0-1) matches.

They have outscored opponents 60-14 on the year and outshot teams 336-175 while holding a 166-79 edge in shots on goal.

Four players have scored double-digit goals for Georgetown. Grace Damaska leads the way with 14 and has added five assists. Rachel Corboz is second with 11 goals and leads the nation with 16 assists. Amanda Carolan and Crystal Thomas have each scored 10 times.

Arielle Schechtman has allowed 14 goals in 24 games for a 0.54 GAA. She has made 64 saves and has .831 save percentage to go with 14 shutouts. The Hoyas have picked up 16 shutouts this year.
