Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Soccer: Kelcie Hedge

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer has added Kelcie Hedge, a transfer from the University of Washington, to the 2017 roster. Hedge has already begun classes at Santa Clara and is playing with the Broncos during their spring season.

Hedge redshirted the 2016 season to play with the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team in the 2016 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea. She has been involved with the U.S. Youth National Teams, going to camps since she was 15.

During the 2016 Women's World Cup, Hedge played against another Bronco transfer, Maria Sanchez, who played for team Mexico. In the quarterfinals, Sanchez scored to put Mexico on top 1-0 before the U.S. was able to tie it late. In injury time, Hedge scored what would be the game-winner.

As a freshman at Washington, Hedge started all 21 games for the Huskies. Her first career goal came in the 89th minute to give Washington a 1-0 win over Michigan.

She also scored in wins over UCLA and Utah, and added one more for a total of four while also adding three assists. She was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team for her play.

Hedge hails from Post Falls, Idaho and attended Post Falls High School. She also played club soccer for the Washington Premier FC. In 2013, she was named the Idaho Gatorade State Player of the Year and was ranked No. 13 in the TopDrawer Soccer IMG Top 150 National Rankings.

Off the field, she enjoys volunteering as a mentor, boating and camping.
