Women's Soccer Travels to No. 7 UCLA Thursday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After a pair of tough games to start the season, things don't get any easier for Santa Clara women's soccer as the Broncos travel to No. 7 UCLA for a 7 p.m. game Thursday on Pac-12 Network.

Santa Clara started the season off with a pair of nail-biters. The Broncos took down San Jose State Friday 2-1 in the season-opener with a goal in the 88th minute. On Sunday, they were on the other end as Cal scored in the 89th minute to win another 2-1 game.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 5-4-2 all-time against UCLA with the last meeting coming in 2010. The Broncos lost that matchup 1-0 in Los Angeles. Santa Clara's last win over the Bruins was a 3-0 win at home in 2006.

THE BRONCOS
Maddy Gonzalez scored two goals, one in each game, during the opening weekend of play to lead Santa Clara (1-1). Julie Doyle also scored one, the game-winner against San Jose State. It was the first goal of her career. Newcomer Maria Sanchez picked up an assist against San Jose State.

Melissa Lowder had allowed three goals for a 1.50 GAA. She has eight saves and a .727 save percentage.

THE BRUINS
UCLA (2-0) picked up a pair of 5-1 wins over the weekend. The Bruins topped San Diego State at home and Long Beach State on the road. They were especially potent in the second half, with seven goals scored.

Julia Hernandez leads the team with three goals while Jessie Fleming and Delanie Sheehan have scored two each. Three other Bruins found the back of the net once each. Fleming leads the team with seven points behind a team-high three assists.

Teagan Micah has faced just six shots on goal so far and has four saves for a .667 save percentage.
