SEATTLE – Concluding a four-game road trip, Santa Clara women's soccer beat Seattle in convincing fashion 4-1 Monday afternoon.
The Bronco (3-4-1) offense exploded for four goals in the first half to topple a Redhawk (3-3) team that has won its regular season conference championship each of the last four years and its conference tournament in three of the last four.
The scoring started in the 16th minute when Kelcie Hedge passed to Julie Doyle who was making a run into the box. After a touch, Doyle went far post to make it 1-0.
The Broncos added on with two goals in two minutes. In the 29th, Kat Uhl passed from just inside the box to Maddy Gonzalez who slid to the ball and finished. In the 31st, Gonzalez one-timed a rebound off a shot from Kelsey Turnbow.
Santa Clara wasn't done and in the 36th, the offensive onslaught continued with another rebound goal, this one by Maria Sanchez to make it 4-0. Again, it was Turnbow that took the shot that led to the goal.
Seattle got on the board in the 56th. Olivia Ovenell chipped a pass to the edge of the six-yard box and Jessie Ray finished with her head.

- Santa Clara is now 3-0 all-time against Seattle.
- The Broncos set a season-high with four goals.
- Santa Clara put seven of its 12 shots on goal.
- This was the Broncos first four-goal game since a 4-0 victory at UC Irvine Sept. 25, 2015.
- At the 60-minute mark, Santa Clara subbed out all 10 field players.
- Alyssa Fiddes made her season debut. Taylor Culver and Gabbie McWilliams made their collegiate debuts.

"Our goal today was to score two or more goals so to get four in the first half was wonderful. I'm also really happy that we were able to get so many people into the game, some the first of their careers and some the first of the season, and that they all played well. This is the end of a really tough stretch for us where we've played six of eight on the road with our losses coming to top-25 teams. With this win we're in a really good spot heading into our annual game with Stanford. Hopefully we can put on a great show for our fans and the students."

The Broncos return home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. to host No. 2 Stanford. The Broncos have won two of the last three meetings with the Cardinal, including last season's NCAA Tournament second round showdown.
