Women's Soccer Goes to Portland for Friday Showdown

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer heads on the road for the first time in West Coast Conference play Friday at 7 p.m. at rival Portland.

Last week the Broncos topped LMU 4-0 in convincing fashion but fell to Pepperdine for an opening-week split.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 18-15-3 all-time against Portland with the first meeting coming in 1984. The Broncos have won the last three matchups with the Pilots, all by finals of 1-0.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (6-6-1, 1-1 WCC) has scored 22 goals on the season while putting 80 of its 169 shots on goal.

Kelsey Turnbow leads the Broncos with four assists and 12 points while placing second with four goals scored. Maddy Gonzalez leads the team with five goals scored and is second with 11 points. THE PILOTS
Portland (3-8-1, 0-2 WCC) has won just once in its last nine matches with a 1-0 victory over Oregon State and a 1-1 tie at Seattle.

The Pilots have been outscored on the year 14-6 and outshout 174-94. Opponents have put 63 shots on goal while Portland has 38.

Hannah Griffiths Boston leads the team with two goals and four points. Three other Pilots have one goal each and two have an assist each.

Rachel Lusby has allowed 14 goals for a 1.15 GAA and has 49 saves for a .778 save percentage. She has collected two shutouts.
