Women's Soccer Hosts San Diego Thursday Night

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer hosts San Diego Thursday at 7 p.m. to begin the final weekend of the regular season.

Last week the Broncos took down San Francisco 2-0 to move their winning streak to five and keep them in a tie for second in the conference standings.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 17-8 all-time against San Diego with the first meeting coming in 1992. Last year the Toreros beat the Broncos 1-0 in San Diego. The Broncos won the last meeting at Stevens Stadium 2-1 in 2015.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (11-6-1, 6-1 WCC) has won five in a row while outscoring opponents 17-3 during the run. The Broncos have outscored opponents 39-27 on the season while putting 131 of their 255 shots on goal.

Kelsey Turnbow is second in the WCC with 11 goals and is tied for the Santa Clara lead with four assists. Maddy Gonzalez has scored six goals and added four assists while Maria Sanchez also has four assists and has scored three times. Four other Broncos have multiple goals.

Melissa Lowder has appeared in 13 games and made 56 saves for a .747 save percentage. Courtney Ogren has made 17 saves in six matches for a .680 save percentage. Lowder had three shutouts and Ogren has one.

THE TOREROS
San Diego (8-9, 6-1 WCC) has won seven of eight after starting the season 1-8. The Toreros have been outscored this season 26-20 and outshot 264-105. Opponents have put 117 shots on goal to San Diego's 48.

Mason Summer leads the team with nine goals and has added an assist. Kelsi Dantu has scored six times and Tara Meier leads the team with five assists. Four other Toreros have one goal apiece.

Amber Michel has allowed 26 goals and made 88 saves for a .772save percentage while collecting three shutouts.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
