Women's Soccer Plays BYU on Senior Day with WCC Crown Still in Reach

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer concludes the regular season at 1 p.m. against BYU on Saturday. It will be Senior Day with Hailai Arghandiwal, Gudrun Arnardottir, Megan Keeth, Kellie Peay, and Kat Uhl being honored in a pregame ceremony.

With their 3-0 victory over San Diego Thursday, the Broncos can win the West Coast Conference crown with a win and a Pepperdine tie or loss against Portland.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 7-1-4 all-time against BYU with the first meeting coming in 1993. Last year the Broncos battled the then-No. 3 Cougars to a scoreless draw in Provo. The last meeting in Santa Clara in 2015 ended in the same score.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (12-6-1, 7-1 WCC) has won nine of 10 and six in a row. During the winning streak, the Broncos have outscored opponents 20-3. On the season, Santa Clara has outscored opponents 42-27 while putting 139 of its 266 shots on goal. The Broncos lead the league in goals scored.

Kelsey Turnbow is tied for the conference lead with 12 goals and is tied for third with five assists. Her 29 points are also second in the WCC. Maddy Gonzalez has scored seven goals and is tied for second on the team with four assists. Maria Sanchez also has four assists and has added three goals. Seven other Broncos have added at least one goal.

Melissa Lowder has made 57 saves for a .750 save percentage in 14 games with four shutouts, including three in a row. Courtney Ogren has played in six games and made 17 saves for a .680 save percentage while picking up one shutout.

THE COUGARS
BYU (7-7-4, 4-3-1 WCC) had won two in a row before falling at San Francisco 2-1 Thursday. The Cougars have outscored their opponents 29-23 while putting 138 shots on frame.

Madie Mathews leads the team with seven goals and 16 points. Nadia Gomes and Elise Flake each have scored five times with three and two assists, respectively. Mikayla Colohan and Rachel Bingham are tied for the team lead with four assists each.

Hannah Clark has allowed 22 goals for a 1.27 GAA and has made 65 saves with a .747 save percentage. She has five shutouts on the year while the Cougars have six as a team.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
