Women's Soccer Tops Fresno State in Spring Game

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer topped Fresno State 5-2 in a spring game Sunday at Stevens Stadium.

The Broncos got two goals from Maddy Gonzalez and one each from Maria Sanchez and DB Pridham and an own goal on the Bulldogs.

"Our match with Fresno State was a good one," Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith said. "We scored five goals, which was a positive. A number of players got to play that didn't play in the fall or saw very limited minutes, so it was good to look at those guys. I was happiest that we had a good rhythm of attack and created a lot of goal scoring chances. We've been really focused on that. Hopefully we can continue to create as many chances and allow fewer goals against. Our goal is one or fewer every game and we allowed two, so we're disappointed about that. Bu all in all, I'm very happy with the game and now we look forward to our match against Stanford."

Santa Clara hosts reigning national champion Stanford Thursday at 7 p.m.
