No. 9 Women's Soccer Falls at No. 8 Texas A&M on Sunday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In a matchup of top-10 teams, No. 9 Santa Clara women's soccer fell at No. 8 Texas A&M 4-0 Sunday evening on the road.

After a scoreless first half, the Aggies (6-0) offense came alive and scored a goal in the 48th minute to take the lead before scoring three more in the span of four minutes midway through the period.

Asdis Halldorsdottir, Ally Watt, Emily Bates, and Jordan Hill all scored for Texas A&M, with Jimena Lopez collecting two assists.

Kelsey Turnbow led the way for Santa Clara with five shots and seven others attempted at least one.

The Broncos (4-1) managed to get off 16 shots, putting five on goal, but couldn't beat Cosette Morche who picked up her fifth shutout of the season.

Melissa Lowder made five saves for Santa Clara in 67 minutes and Courtney Ogren played the final 23, making one save.

NOTES

  • Santa Clara is now 2-1 all-time against Texas A&M.
  • There was a two hour delay prior to the game due to lighting in the area.
  • The loss snaps Santa Clara's four-game winning streak to open the season. It was the longest since 2001, when the Broncos won the national title.
