Nonconference Play Concludes for No. 6 Women's Soccer at UC Santa Barbara Sunday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Off to its best start since 2005, No. 6 Santa Clara women's soccer heads to Southern California to face UC Santa Barbara Sunday at 1 p.m. in the nonconference finale.

On Friday, the Broncos handled Cal Poly in a 5-1 victory at home.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 10-7-4 all-time against UC Santa Barbara with the first match coming in 1982. The last meeting was a 2-1 Bronco victory in Santa Barbara.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (8-1-1), with its highest ranking since getting to No. 1 in 2007, has outscored its opponents 22-10 on the season and hold a 153-118 edge in shots while putting 68 on goal. The Broncos are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak where they have gone 4-0-1.

Maria Sanchez leads the WCC with eight assists and is second on Santa Clara with four goals while leading the team with 16 points. Maddy Gonzalez has scored a team-high six goals to go along with one assist and Kelsey Turnbow has found the back of the net three times. Seven other Broncos have scored at least one goal each.

Melissa Lowder, the WCC Player of the Week, has started all 10 games and allowed eight goals for a 0.90 GAA. She has 40 saves and a .833 save percentage to go with four shutouts on the year.

THE GAUCHOS
UC Santa Barbara (7-3) has lost two of three with a 1-0 defeat against Pepperdine on Friday. The Gauchos have outscored their opponents 22-10 on the season.

Shaelan Murison leads the team with seven goals and 17 points. Mallory Hromatko has a team-high five assists with Murison and Ryan Kokoska both collecting three. Six players have scored twice each and two have one apiece.

Natalie Hill and Hanna DeWeese have split time in net for UCSB. Hill has allowed five goals for a 0.89 GAA and has 14 saves. DeWeese has let in five goals and has a 1.10 GAA to go with 18 saves.
