No. 4 Women's Soccer Goes to Pepperdine Sunday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Riding an eight-match unbeaten streak (7-0-1) and a nine match West Coast Conference winning streak, No. 4 Santa Clara women's soccer plays at Pepperdine Sunday at 1 p.m.

Friday night the Broncos won at LMU 3-2 in come-from-behind fashion to move into a tie atop the conference standings.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 14-10 all-time at Pepperdine with the first meeting coming in 1994. Last year the Waves picked up a 5-0 win at Stevens Stadium, their first ever in Santa Clara. The Broncos have not won in Malibu since a 5-0 victory in 1999.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (11-1-1, 2-0 WCC) has outscored opponents 30-14 on the year and 21-8 during its last eight games.

Maddy Gonzalez leads the team with seven goals and has added two assists for 16 points. Skylar Smith is second with five goals while Kelsey Turnbow and Kelcie Hedge have both scored four times. Turnbow has four assists, second on the team to Maria Sanchez who also has scored four times but is off playing with the Mexican National Team.

Melissa Lowder has allowed 12 goals for a 1.01 GAA and made 45 saves for a .789 save percentage while collecting five shutouts on the season.

THE WAVES
Pepperdine (6-6-1, 1-1-1 WCC) has been outscored on the season 14-10 despite holding a 171-105 edge in shots and a 65-54 advantage in shots on goal. The Waves have a loss and a tie in their last two games after winning five in a row.

Joelle Anderson leads the team with four goals and nine points while Hailey Stenberg and Brie Welch have each found the back of the net twice with two and one assists, respectively. Michelle Maemone and Isabel Nelson have both scored once each.

Brielle Preece has seen the most time in net, appearing in 11 games. She has allowed 12 goals for a 1.14 GAA and made 25 saves for a .676 save percentage. She has five shutouts on the year and Pepperdine has six as a team.
