No. 7 Women's Soccer Takes On Portland at Home Friday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 7 Santa Clara women's soccer continues its three-match homestand with rival Portland Friday at 7 p.m. at Stevens Stadium.

The Broncos took care of Saint Mary's 4-1 Sunday at home and control their destiny in the race for a West Coast Conference title.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 19-15-3 all-time against Portland with the first meeting coming in 1984. Last year the Broncos topped the Pilots 4-1 in Portland and have won four in a row in the series.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara's (12-2-1, 3-1 WCC) 34 goals are the most in the WCC and the Broncos have put 109 of their 243 shots on frame.

Despite missing three games while she was away with the Mexican National Team, Maria Sanchez leads the Broncos with 17 points behind four goals and a conference-high tying nine assists. Maddy Gonzalez leads the team with seven goals and has two assists. Kelcie Hedge has scored five goals in her last four matches and has six on the year with an assist. Kelsey Turnbow and Skylar Smith have both found the back of the net five times and Turnbow has four assists.

Melissa Lowder has started all 15 games and allowed 13 goals for a 1.00 GAA. She has 48 saves and a .787 save percentage to go with five shutouts.

THE PILOTS
Portland (10-5, 3-1 WCC) has won six of seven and has a 25-12 edge in goals scored this year. The Pilots 0.80 GAA is tops in the WCC and their seven shutouts are tied for the conference lead.

Taryn Ries leads the WCC with 13 goals and 28 points. Larkin Russell has a team-high eight assists and Kimberly Hazlett has scored five times with four assists. Two Pilots have two assists each and four have scored once apiece.

Rachel Lusby has allowed 12 goals in 15 games for a 0.80 GAA and has 52 saves for a .812 save percentage. Her GAA and save percentage lead the league, as do her seven shutouts.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
