NCAA Tournament Begins for No. 7 Women's Soccer Saturday With Milwaukee

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Third-seeded No. 7 Santa Clara women's soccer will host Milwaukee Saturday at 1 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Broncos, in their 28th NCAA Tournament, closed-out the regular season Saturday with a commanding 7-0 win over Pacific to finish the year with the most regular season wins since the national title season of 2001 (17).

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (16-3-1) finished the regular season tied for 15th nationally in scoring with 47 goals while conceding 21. The Broncos had seven players honored on All-WCC teams Tuesday with Kelcie Hedge bringing home Player of the Year honors.

Maria Sanchez is tied for tops in the country with 14 assists and has added five goals for a team-leading 24 points. Maddy Gonzalez leads the Broncos with eight goals and has two assists as well. Kelsey Turnbow has scored seven times with five assists and Hedge has also found the back of the net seven times with a pair of assists. Skylar Smith has six goals and seven others have scored at least one goal each.

Melissa Lowder started all 20 games in net while allowing 18 goals for a 1.03 GAA. She had 68 saves for a .791 save percentage with six shutouts.

THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee (16-1-1), winners of the Horizon League, outscored its opponents 38-10 on the year and are riding a 10-match unbeaten streak (9-0-1).

The Panthers are led on offense by Haley Johnson and Jelen Sever who have six goals each. Johnson is second on the team with eight assists and leads with 20 points. Erin Corrigan has a team-high 12 assists to go with three goals. Four others have at least three goals each and seven others have scored once each.

Elaina Lamacchia has allowed 10 goals in 18 games for a 0.56 GAA while making 51 saves for a .836 save percentage. She has eight solo shutouts on the year with the team collecting a total of 10.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
