No. 7 Women's Soccer Faces North Carolina State Friday in NCAA Tournament Second Round

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 7 Santa Clara women's soccer continues its NCAA Tournament run with a second round matchup against North Carolina State Friday at 5 p.m. on the campus of UCLA.

The Broncos took care of Milwaukee 4-1 Saturday in the first round, picking up their 54th tournament win.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 1-0 all-time against North Carolina State with the only other meeting coming in the third round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament when the Broncos came away with a 3-0 win on the Stanford campus.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (17-3-1) is sixth in the country with 51 goals and ninth in the country with 2.43 goals per game. The Broncos are also 15th with 140 total points this season.

Maria Sanchez leads the nation in total assists (16) and assists per game (0.89) while tying for second on the team with seven goals for a team-high 30 points. Maddy Gonzalez leads the team with eight goals with Kelsey Turnbow and Kelcie Hedge adding seven goals each. Turnbow is second on the team with seven assists and 21 points as well. Skylar Smith had found the back of the net six times with five other Broncos score at least twice each.

Melissa Lowder has started every game in net and allowed 19 goals for a 1.03 GAA. She has 72 saves and a .792 save percentage to go with six shutouts.

THE WOLFPACK
North Carolina State (11-6-3) has outscored its opponents 33-21 on the year but entered the tournament 1-3-1 in its previous five games before picking up a 1-0 win over Northwestern.

Tziarra King leads the team with nine goals and 24 points while placing second with six assists. Ricarda Walkling and Hannah Keogh each have a team-high seven assists with two and one goal, respectively. Kia Rankin has scored five times with four assists and 12 other players have scored at least once.

Sydney Wootten has played every minute in net and allowed 21 goals for a 1.01 GAA. She has 84 saves and a .800 save percentage with seven shutouts.
