Four Women's Soccer Players Named First Team All-West Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four Santa Clara women's soccer players were named First Team All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches on Monday.

The four Broncos honored were Kelcie Hedge, Alex Loera, Maria Sanchez, and Kelsey Turnbow, the same four to bring home First Team All-WCC accolades earlier this month.

Hedge, the WCC Player of the Year, finished second on the team with seven goals while adding two assists and starting all but one game. During conference play, she led the team with six goals, scoring all six in a span of five matches.

Sanchez leads the nation with 16 assists, tied for seventh most in Santa Clara history and the most by a Bronco since 2001. Twice this season she tied a program record with four assists in a game (Aug. 20 vs. Cal, Nov. 3 vs. Pacific). She also added eight goals and led Santa Clara with 32 points.

Turnbow, the 2017 WCC Freshman of the year, is tied with Hedge with seven goals scored this year and is also second on the team with seven assists. It is her second consecutive first team nod.

Loera started all but one game during the season while adding two assists and helping to anchor the back line.
