Meet the Future of Women's Soccer: Nicole Sweeney

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer will welcome Nicole Sweeney of San Jose, Calif. to the 2019 roster.

Sweeney attended Branham High School where she won two letters in soccer as a forward. During her freshman year she led the league with 26 goals and again led the league as a sophomore with 15.

She was named to the all-conference first team her freshman and sophomore years and was also named MVP her sophomore year. She was also named team MVP as a freshman and sophomore. Sweeney brought home Central Coast Section (CCS) freshman and sophomore of the year awards while also being named to the first team twice. She was named All-Mercury News Girls Soccer First Team twice and the Prep2Prep Freshman of the year.

Sweeney participated in the ECNL National Camp in 2017 and was a part of the ODP Region IV team in 2016 and 2017.

In the classroom, Sweeney received a 4.2 cumulative GPA and was a member of the Best Buddies club. In her senior year, she was named club president.

She played club soccer for MVLA.

Her parents, Mike and Stacy Sweeney, both attended UC Santa Barbara. Sweeney has two siblings, Julia and Brian.

Sweeney plans to major in Public Health. She aspires to do something related to helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her free time, she enjoys painting and hanging out with her dog, family, and friends.
