No. 13 Women's Soccer Picked as WCC Co-Favorites; Three Named Preseason All-WCC

SAN BRUNO, Calif.– For the third year in a row, No. 13 Santa Clara women's soccer has been picked as at least a co-favorite atop the West Coast Conference preseason poll, tying with BYU with five first place votes. The Broncos also had a league-high three named to the Preseason All-WCC team with Kelcie Hedge, Alex Loera, and Kelsey Turnbow bringing home honors.

The Broncos bring back 41 of their 52 goals from last season when they went 17-3-2. It was their most wins since 2005 and the most regular season (16) and nonconference (9) wins since 2001.

Hedge, a MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List pick, was named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist in addition to being named First Team All-AmericaFirst Team All-West Region, the WCC Player of the Year, and First Team All-WCC a year ago. She finished last season with seven goals and two assists while starting all but one game.

Loera, also on the Hermann Trophy Watch List, was named First Team All-West Region and First Team All-WCC last season. She started all but one game while adding a pair of assists and helping to anchor the Broncos defense.

Turnbow was yet another Bronco named First Team All-West Region and First Team All-WCC in 2018. She finished the season with seven goals and finished second on the team with seven assists.
