Showdown with No. 4 BYU Opens West Coast Conference Play for Women's Soccer

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In a matchup of teams that split the preseason poll, Santa Clara women's soccer opens West Coast Conference play at home with No. 4 BYU.

Last week the Broncos closed nonconference play with a pair of 2-0 wins over UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 8-2-4 all-time against BYU with the first meeting coming in 1993. Last season the Cougars won in Provo 2-0.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (6-5, 0-0 WCC) has outscored its opponents 27-15 on the year and outshot teams 172-99 with an 82-55 edge in shots on goal. The Broncos 34 total assists are fourth in the county and their 27 goals is 17th.

The offense is led by a pair of players with 22 points each, tied for 10th in the nation. Izzy D'Aquila is fifth in the country with 10 goals which is also tied for first among freshman nationally. Kelsey Turnbow has scored seven times, good for third in the WCC, and is third nationally with eight assists. Seven other Broncos have found the back of the net with 10 have at least one assist. Kelcie Hedge has five assists and a goal with four players adding three assists each.

Courtney Ogren has started all 11 games and made 38 saves for a .717 save percentage. She has three solo shutouts with two shared, giving Santa Clara five for the season.

THE COUGARS
BYU (10-0, 0-0 WCC) has a 29-3 goal differential on the season and has outshot opponents 196-72 with an 86-23 edge in shots on target.

Elise Flake leads the team with nine goals and Mikayla Colohan has added six. Cameron Tucker has scored four with eight others scoring. Lizzy Braby and Jamie Shepherd are tied for the team lead with three assists each.

Sabrina Davis has allowed three goals and made 19 saves for a .864 save percentage. Cassidy Smith has started one game and made two saves. The Cougars have eight shutouts on the year.

Join the Santa Clara women's soccer team in the entrance plaza following the match to receive autographs from your favorite Broncos.

PARKING
For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot (see below for access), located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive. The construction of the Stephen C. and Patricia A. Schott Athletic Excellence Center has necessitated the closure of the main entrance (off Accolti Way) to the Leavey Center parking lot. Access is now ONLY directly from El Camino Real (Route 82). If you are traveling east on El Camino Real, the Leavey lot entrance will be approximately 150 yards on the right (enter through the black iron gate) after you pass the main campus entrance. If you are traveling west on El Camino, make a u-turn at the main campus entrance at Palm Drive/Railroad Ave and follow the same directions.
