Women's Soccer Posts Comeback Win at Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. – It wasn't easy but Santa Clara women's soccer posted a come-from-behind 3-2 win at Gonzaga on Saturday evening.

The Broncos (6-4-2, 3-0 WCC) fell behind 44 seconds into the match and found themselves down another in the 30th. Lucy Mitchell got her team on the board in the 40th minute and added the equalizer in the 71st. It was the first two goals of Mitchell's Santa Clara career.

The Bulldogs (11-3, 1-2 WCC) nearly retook the lead minutes later but hit the woodwork to keep things tied that allowed Kelsey Turnbow to find the head of Izzy D'Aquila in the 79th to complete the comeback.

Santa Clara ended up with a 19-13 edge in shots and a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Kylie Foutch, in for injured starter Marlee Nicolos, had a collision in the second half and after staying in the game initially, exited in favor of Felicity Baker in the 64th who was in net when Gonzaga hit the crossbar. Foutch made five saves with Baker not facing a shot on goal.
