PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University softball team's scheduled doubleheader against Stanford at the host Cardinal's Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium has been canceled due to rainy weather. The teams, who were to play the fall scrimmages at noon and 2 p.m. this afternoon, have rescheduled the contests for Thursday evening at 3 and 5 p.m.
Santa Clara will open the 2004 season at a tournament hosted by UC Santa Barbara January 31-February1. The Broncos will open against Oregon State and play the host Gauchos later that afternoon. Santa Clara will also play Long Beach State and Illinois-Chicago at the tournament.
