The Mustangs' extended the lead in the third, loading the bases with no outs and scoring two runs before the Bronco defense could close out the frame.

Santa Clara threatened in the fourth, loading the bases. Short stop Shannon Linerud singled to right center, followed by Clee, who reached base on a Mustang error. Both runners were joined by Kabanuck, as she singled down the left field line. Cal Poly held on to the shut out by recording the final two outs.

Designated player Sabrina Franks put the Broncos on the scoreboard with a two-run homer in the sixth, marking her second of the season. She scored Clee, who doubled earlier in the frame.
