Santa Clara Closes Weekend With Big Win Over Cal State Fullerton

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Santa Clara softball team closed play in the San Jose State South Bay Super Series this morning, beating Cal State Fullerton, a team who has gone to the NCAA Tournament for the last five years, 14-9. With the win the Broncos finish the weekend at 2-1 and improve to 5-9 overall.

Freshman Riley McKay earned her first collegiate win and Kaitlyn Rauschnot picked up her second save of the year.

Senior Emily Batt and sophomore Kristin Welsh both went 2-for-4 with three RBIs against the Titans and Welsh hit her second home run of the weekend. Senior Megan Smith also hit a home run.

Santa Clara stays in the Bay Area next weekend, taking part in the three-day Stanford Louisville Slugger Classic, beginning on Friday.
