STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara softball team dropped its first two games of the Stanford Louisville Slugger Classic today, falling to Princecton, 12-3, and host Stanford, 8-0.

The meeting between the Tigers and the Broncos was the third in less than two weeks as the teams split games last weekend, both by scores of 8-6, in the San Jose State South Bay Super Series.

Starting pitcher senior Kaitlyn Rauschnot got into trouble early, loading the bases with two walks and a fielding error at third with just one out.  Weidrick then doubled to left center to put the first two runs on the board before the Broncos could end the inning.

Santa Clara took back the lead after a three-run second inning which saw the Broncos score on three singles and three errors by the Tigers before the first out.  Princeton finally got things under control, sitting down three-in-a-row with a strikeout, a foul fly, and a fly ball.

The Tigers continued the see-saw action of the game, scoring twice in the top of the third on two hits and one error, before finally taking control of the game for good.  The Broncos couldn't get their offense going and Princeton scored seven runs between the sixth and seventh innings to end it 13-9 in favor of the Tigers.

Rauschnot went 5.1 innings and was charged with the loss.

In the second game, freshman Ali Nash pitched the entire game for Santa Clara but couldn't evade the Cardinal's hot bats.  Stanford attained a comfortable 6-0 lead by the end of the second and scored its last two runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

Santa Clara's offense went dormant and couldn't solve pitcher Teagan Gerhart who recorded a perfect game.  Nash settled into the game after the first two innings, and with the help of her defense did not allow a run for three innings.

The Broncos are back in action at Stanford tomorrow, playing just one game against Cal Poly at 10 a.m.
