STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara softball team dropped their final non-conference game of the season, falling, 7-0, on Thursday to Stanford at the Cardinal's Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium. The Broncos six-hit Stanford pitcher Ashley Chinn, but couldn't convert any numbers to the scoreboard.

The Cardinal scored one run in the first inning on an RBI-single to take the lead.

In the second inning, two-straight singles from senior Megan Smith and junior Amanda Edmonson got runners on base with two outs, but bother were left stranded after Chinn struck out junior Jenna Fong.

Stanford did most of its damage in the bottom of the third courtesy of two two-run homers. First, Jenna Rich drove in Shannon Koplitz off of senior Kaitlyn Rauschnot, whose day finished just one batter later. Then Alix Van Zandt scored Maya Burns off Rasuchnot's replacement, freshman Ali Nash.

Santa Clara again stranded two runners in the top of the fifth, while the Cardinal scored their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Both runs were unearned, as Alissa Haber made it to third on fielding error and Ashley Hansen put her across the plate with a sacrifice fly. The final run of the game came off an RBI-double by Rosey Neill.

Senior Nicole Picard went 2-for-2 at the plate while both Rasuchnot and Nash struck out one. Chinn finished with 10 strikeouts in five innings pitched. Chinn's replacement, Teagan Gerhart, struck out two in two innings pitched and gave up no hits.

The Broncos, now 9-32, will conclude their season this weekend on the road at San Diego with their final Pacific Coast Softball Conference series against the Toreros.
