Eleven of SCU Softball’s 19 Student-Athletes Honored for Academic Achievement

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Eleven of Santa Clara University's 19 softball student-athletes were named to the 2012 Pacific Coast Softball Conference Honor Roll, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Underclassmen Krista Jensen (3.78 GPA) and Ashley Haney (3.70 GPA) led the way for the Broncos, who continue to excel in the classroom. SCU softball had 10 of 14 players garner the award last season.

Six student-athletes maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or better, which also included graduating senior Kristin Welsh (3.68 GPA), sophomore Kelly Scribner (3.55 GPA), freshman Jaymi Bautista-Geiger (3.43 GPA) and freshman Sarah Haga (3.43 GPA).

Welsh became a four-time PCSC Honor Roll award winner. Senior classmate Briana Knight (3.25 GPA) makes her third appearance on the league's academic honor roll, while junior Jamie Wallis (3.23 GPA) and sophomores Stephanie Fisher (3.19 GPA), Scribner and Jensen have been named twice.
