SANTA CLARA, Calif. - This spring season marked the first time ever that the softball seniors got to end their careers in the new on-campus stadium. Jamie Wallis (JW), a senior from San Jose, Calif., was a key contributor during her Bronco career.

In 2012, Wallis' 32 runs scored ranked 5th all-time in Santa Clara single season history. Wallis was also a Pacific Coast Softball Conference Honor Roll member in both 2011 and '12. SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) recently spoke to Wallis about her collegiate softball career.

SCB: How many different positions did you play over the duration of your college softball career?

JW: Although I primarily think of myself as a center fielder, I have also played shortstop, second base, left field, right field and designated player.

SCB: How much did it mean to you to have the opportunity to play games on-campus during your senior year?

JW: It was really special to be able to play games on-campus during my senior year. Classmates, friends and family could now easily come to cheer us on. I am so thankful and appreciative for all those who worked so hard to make the field a reality for the 2013 season.

SCB: How was your Senior Day in the new stadium?

JW: It was a great day. We had a big crowd and there was a festive atmosphere. It was especially nice to have my family and friends there to celebrate my final home game as a Bronco softball player and see me hit a homerun. We even got the win! Afterwards, there was a nice BBQ that everyone had a good time at. It was an all-around memorable day.

SCB: What was your favorite memory from playing softball for the Broncos?

JW: I don't think I can pinpoint any specific memory as my favorite. I have had so many good memories with my teammates that have helped make this experience that much better.

SCB: What will you miss most about playing softball for SCU?

JW: I think I will miss not getting to see my teammates nearly everyday the most. Thankfully, I know that the friendships made will last a lifetime.
