AS A FRESHMAN IN 2012: Immediately became Santa Clara’s starting catcher, making 51 starts during the 54-game season … hit .317 against Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) pitching and ended the year on a seven-game hitting streak … hit .280 on the season, striking out just 11 times in 165 plate appearances … totaled 42 hits in 51 games … registered a hit and an RBI in her first collegiate game and second at-bat at UTEP (Feb. 9) … went 2 for 2 with an RBI-double against UC Davis (Feb. 21) … had nine multiple-hit games during the season … had a pair of doubles against Brown (Mar. 24), going 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored … had two hits and a season-high two RBI against Sacramento State (Mar. 7) … closed out the year by hitting in seven-straight games (Apr. 22 through May 1), including going 2 for 3 against St. Mary’s (Apr. 22) and registering a hit at Stanford (May. 1).

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2011 graduate of Linfield Christian High School, where she broke most every offensive record as a four-year varsity starter at catcher … honored as a First Team All-Ambassador League player as a sophomore, junior and senior … named team MVP as a senior and defensive MVP as a junior … named Linfield’s Freshman of the Year in 2008.

PERSONAL: Born in Huntington Beach, Calif. as the daughter of Kelli and Ernie Bernard …  full name is Brianna Marie Bernard … has an older brother, Brandon … excellent student, named Linfield Christian’s Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior … was a three-year varsity volleyball player in high school … She will be majoring in Marketing.
