Jenna Krummen Excited for Senior Season

Written by Aaron Cheng '16

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Jenna Krummen (JK), one of five seniors of the softball team, spoke with Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) about how the team has prepared for the beginning season, her goals for the season, and reflected on her experience as a Bronco.

SCB: How has the offseason prepared you for the upcoming season? Is there an aspect of your game you have paid more attention to?

JK: As a team, we really focused on our hitting during the offseason. January was a crucial month for our team in order to prepare ourselves for the upcoming season, and as a whole we are very pleased with our growth. Team 36 is ready to play some games!

SCB: What do you and the team do to stay focused after spending a full quarter preparing for the season?

JK: With a very cohesive team and one with tons of personality, we really enjoy spending time together on and off the field. This team has worked incredibly hard to prepare for the season and we are very excited to see our hard work come together in games. Our sports psychologist, Kellen Lee, also provided us with the phrase "embrace the suck." January can be a long month with early morning practices and the lack of games can create a sense of monotony. Our team has really excelled through January and we are very focused on having a successful season.

SCB: What are your goals, personal or for the team, for the upcoming season?

JK: As a team we have talked about getting 1 percent better every day. We believe if we buy into learning and making gains from our experiences, then we will see the results we have worked for. We look forward to having a very competitive season.

SCB: Is there an opponent you look forward to facing the most this year?

JK: Games against LMU have provided very memorable moments. We have created some great team highs playing LMU and are working to create more this year when we host them at our new stadium for the first time.

SCB: Looking back at your time as a Bronco, are there any experiences that you will remember better than the rest?

JK: My experience as a Bronco has been one that I will never forget. I have truly enjoyed my time at Santa Clara as a student athlete and I look forward to my last season here. I will always remember the experiences that I have shared with my teammates through the last four years and cherish the friendships that I have made, especially with my fellow seniors. Together we have seen immense development in this program and have come a long way from playing at West Valley Junior College.
