Softball Falls to Weber State in Santa Clara Invitational Finale

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – On the final day of the Santa Clara Invitational, Santa Clara softball lost to Weber State 4-0.

The Wildcats (5-8-1) scored the only runs they would need in the top of the third. McKinley Brinkerhoff led off with a bunt single and went to third on a steal and a sacrifice bunt. Takesha Saltern walked and took off for second to draw a throw allowing Brinkerhoff to steal home for the first run. Mackenzi Corta followed a wild pitch with an RBI single to center.

Landi Hawker was 3-4 and Molly Horne was 2-4 to lead the Wildcats offense. S White was 1-1 with a walk and two runs scored.

Ciara Gonzalez (0-3) started for the Broncos (3-8) and picked up the loss in three innings. She allowed two runs on five hits with a walk.

Kirtlyn Bohling (3-7) tossed a complete game shutout for the win. She allowed two hits and struck out four.

Ellie Fisher, Amanda Delfino, and Morgan Modesto picked up the only hits for the Bronco offense that never had more than one runner on base in an inning.

The Broncos are back in action Friday at 1:30 p.m. vs. Weber State in Boise, Idaho at the SpringHill Suites Classic.
