Softball Welcomes LMU for First Home WCC Series

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball looks to continue its solid start to WCC play as the Broncos host LMU Friday and Saturday. The teams play at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday.

Santa Clara took two of three at Saint Mary's on the first weekend of conference play. After a split on day one, the Broncos won the rubber match 4-2.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (10-24, 2-1 WCC) is hitting .256 as a team with a .310 on-base percentage and a .331 slugging percentage. The Broncos have scored 107 runs with six home runs, four triples, and 42 doubles.

Ellie Fisher, the WCC Player of the Week, is third in the WCC with a .383 batting average and is second with 26 runs scored. She also is tops in the conference with 20 steals in 22 attempts and has added two triples, a double, and four RBIs.

Geenamarie Bonilla is hitting .330 with a team-leading three home runs and 18 RBIs. She has scored 12 runs and also leads the Broncos with 10 doubles. Kelsie Barnard is hitting .313 with 16 RBIs. She has scored four runs and hit four doubles.

In the circle, Micaela Vierra leads the Broncos in ERA (3.90), wins (5), starts (11), complete games (3), innings pitched (73 2/3), and strikeouts (40). Aubree Kim leads the team with 21 appearances and 11 starts. She has also tossed three complete games and has fanned 36 in 61 2/3 innings. Ciara Gonzalez has saved a team-high three games.

THE LIONS
LMU (14-25, 0-3 WCC) is hitting .263 as a team with a .354 OBP and a .367 slugging percentage. The Lions have scored 156 runs with 20 home runs and 43 doubles.

Amanda Dirks leads the team with a .325 batting average, 24 runs scored, five home runs, and 21 RBIs. Irma Sanchez is hitting .321 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. She has scored 23 runs with six doubles. Alicia Brown has knocked in 21 runs and scored 14 with a .269 average.

Rachael Farrington has appeared in a team-high 26 games and made a team-best 14 starts. She also leads the team with seven complete games, one shutout, 104 innings pitched, and 47 strikeouts. Hannah Bandimere has a team-low 2.69 ERA in 54 2/3 innings and Andy Wellins has tossed 79 2/3 innings.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to first pitch. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Due to CIF basketball and other on campus events, the Leavey Lot may be full Saturday.
