Seven Softball Players Honored for Academic Success

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball had seven players honored by the West Coast Conference on Wednesday for their academic success.

Kelsie Barnard, Geenamarie Bonilla, Amanda Delfino, and McCall James were named WCC All-Academic and Taylor Bojorquez, Ciara Gonzales, and Anne Yates were honorable mention. It is the third honor for Delfino, the second for James, and the second for Bojorquez.

Barnard has a 3.64 GPA as a chemistry major. She appeared in all 49 games in 2017 and made 48 starts while finishing second on the team with 18 RBIs.

Bonilla has a 3.71 GPA as a communication major and is scheduled to graduate in June. She was the only Bronco to start all 49 games and led the team with 13 doubles, three home runs, and 21 RBIs.

Delfino has a 3.4 GPA as a communication and Spanish Studies double major and is scheduled to graduate in June. She appeared in 45 games with 40 starts and added a home run, eight RBIs, and 11 runs scored.

James has a 3.36 GPA as an economics major. She appeared in 22 games and made 11 starts with four complete games and one shutout. She tossed 76 2/3 innings for the Broncos.

Bojorquez has a 3.48 GPA as a finance major and is scheduled to graduate in June. She came off the bench and appeared in 26 games while collecting 41 at-bats.

Ciara Gonzales has a 3.49 GPA as a bioengineering major and is scheduled to graduate in June. She pitched 64 2.3 innings and led the team with three saves.

Yates has a 3.26 GPA as a communication major. She appeared in 25 games off the bench and scored five runs.
