SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara softball had three players honored on the 2017 All-West Coast Conference teams, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Ellie Fisher was named First Team All-WCC, Kimberly Goulart was Second Team All-WCC, and McCall James was honorable mention. It is the second honor for Fisher and the first for the other two Broncos.
Fisher, a second team selection in 2015, hit .376 on the season which was third in the conference and fourth in Santa Clara single season history. She also led the league in hits with 61. In conference games Fisher was fifth with a .415 average and first with 22 hits. She led the Broncos in hits (64) and runs scored (29) while pacing the conference with 23 stolen bases. Her hit total landed her fourth on the all-time Santa Clara list and here stolen bases were second all-time.
Goulart stepped up during league play with a .341 batting average. She added a double, two triples, two RBIs, and four runs scored in conference games. On the season, she had six RBIs and scored 11 runs.
James had a 1.65 ERA in 29 2/3 innings in conference action, good for fourth in the WCC. She appeared in seven games and made four starts. James tossed three complete games and one shutout against WCC opponents. She pitched 76 2/3 innings in 2017 across 22 games and had a total of four complete games.
