SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Lisa Dodd was named the Santa Clara head softball coach on Tuesday.

Dodd, who played and coached in the Pac-12 Conference, spent the last five years at the helm of UNLV where she amassed 121 wins, with a season-high of 26 coming in 2014.

Under her tutelage, the Rebels had nine All-Mountain West First Team selections, including the 2014 MW Player of the Year Garie Blando. The Rebels also had six NFCA All-West Region members in Dodd's five-year tenure.

Her teams exceled in the classroom with four Rebels named MW Scholar-Athletes, including a repeat winner in Emily Haslinger, for maintaining a 3.5 or greater GPA during the year. She had a minimum of seven players each year on the Spring Academic All-MW.

Prior to taking over the Rebels, Dodd spent three seasons (2010-12) at Oregon as an assistant to Mike White. She helped Oregon return to national prominence with a combined record of 123-55 and three consecutive trips to the postseason. The Ducks reached the NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals all three seasons before a trip to the 2012 Women's College World Series and a program-best No. 5 final ranking in both polls.

Dodd spent the 2009 season as an assistant at Nevada, helping the Wolf Pack to an overall record of 40-19 and a trip to the NCAA Regionals. Nevada also garnered a share of the WAC title following a 15-5 conference campaign.

After a stellar playing career at UCLA, she spent one year as a graduate assistant for her alma mater. The Bruins finished second overall in Pac-10 play was were the second seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament before ending the season at the Women's College World Series.

Dodd was a three-time All-West Region and All-Pac-10 Conference selection and split time in the circle and at first base for the Bruins. She tallied 176 hits, 65 of which went for extra bases, 129 RBIs, and 89 runs. She was 41-11 in 60 appearances, making 57 starts and tossing 40 complete games. Over 337 2/3 innings pitched, Dodd fanned 223.

Dodd earned her undergraduate degree in sociology with a minor in women's studies in 2008.

 


CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS

· Has 121 wins as a Division I head coach.

· As a player or coach, her teams have advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals six times and the Women's College World Series on five occasions. She also helped UCLA win a national championship in 2004.

· As a head coach, had nine First Team All-Mountain West and six NFCA All-West Region selections.

·  Has worked with both the USA Women's National Team and the Junior Women's National Team. From 2013-16, was an assistant coach for the National Team. She worked with the pitchers and the defense. In 2013, she was an assistant for the Junior National Team. The squad earned a silver medal at the ISF X Junior Women's World Championship behind a 9-1 record in Brampton, Ontario.

· Three-time All-Region and All-Pac-10 Conference selection.

· 2003 Gatorade Prep State and National Player of the Year.
