SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After a week off, Santa Clara softball is back on the diamond beginning Friday at the Stanford Nike Invitational. The Broncos face Cal Poly Friday at 3:30 p.m. and the Cardinal at 6 p.m. On Saturday, they play the Mustangs at noon and conclude the tournament Sunday at 1:30 p.m. against Stanford.
The Broncos opened the season at the Capital City Kickoff in Sacramento two weeks ago but were unable to come away with a win.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (0-5) scored 10 runs in its opening weekend of action while hitting nine doubles and adding a triple.
Morgan Modesto leads the Broncos with a .417 batting average and four doubles. Taylor Burns leads the team with four runs scored and is tied for the team-lead with two RBIs. She is hitting .357 with two doubles and a triple. Jordan Dawkins is hitting .308 with two RBIs. Ellie Fisher has scored three runs and is 4-for-4 in stolen bases.
In the circle, Micaela Vierra has tossed a team leading 12 2/3 innings over four games, including two starts. Aubree Kim has appeared in three games and made two starts while pitching 10 innings. Sydnie Hersh has pitched in three games out of the bullpen and McCall James has made one start.
THE CARDINAL
Stanford (6-5) is hitting .309 as a team with nine doubles, seven triples, and eight home runs. The Cardinal have scored 66 runs while posting a .372 on-base percentage.
Teaghan Cowles is hitting a team leading .450 with a pair of doubles and two triples. She has scored a team high 11 runs and knocked in seven runs. Montana Dixon leads the way with three home runs and 13 RBIs while hitting .353 and scoring eight runs. Alyssa Horeczko is hitting .378 with five RBIs and 10 runs scored.
Stanford has a 2.73 team ERA over 71 2/3 innings.
Maddy Dwyer has pitched 41 innings and has a 0.85 ERA. She has four complete games and one shutout while striking out 26 against 11 walks. In 20 innings, Kiana Pancino has a 2.80 ERA and 13 strikeouts in six appearances including one complete game.
THE MUSTANGS
Cal Poly (4-6) is hitting .241 as a team with seven doubles, a triple, and a home run and has scored 29 runs.
Chelsea Convissar is hitting a team best .406 with a double, a triple, and a home run. She has scored a team high nine runs with three RBIs. Stephanie Heyward has knocked in a team high six runs and is hitting .241 with three runs scored. Hailey Martin is hitting .318 with a double and five RBIs.
The Mustangs have a 5.11 ERA as a team across 63 innings.
Dakota Casper has thrown a team leading 20 2/3 innings in five starts and has a 3.39 ERA. Lindsey Chalmers has thrown 19 innings in four starts with two complete games and Shelby Jeffries has made four appearances, including one start, while throwing 13 2/3 innings.
