SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball dropped its home opener 9-0 in six innings to San Jose State Wednesday night.
The Spartans (10-7) were held scoreless in the first but jumped on Aubree Kim for seven runs over the next 2-plus innings, including a four-spot in the fourth that ended the night for the Broncos (0-10) starter.
Kim (0-4) ended up allowing seven runs, six earned, on five hits with five walks.
Georgia Blair was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Cassidy Clark added two runs scored and two RBIs. Four other Spartans drove in a run each.
Madison Aurin (2-6) tossed a one-hitter in the 6-inning complete game. She walked two and struck out five.
Ellie Fisher picked up the lone Santa Clara hit, a bunt single with two outs in the third. Kat Sanchez and Eleni Spirakis also picked up walks with Adele Elkind reaching on a hit by pitch.
