Softball Returns Home To Face Fresno State Wednesday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara returns home for just its third game on the Mission campus when it hosts Fresno State Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Broncos had the week off after competing at the Matador Classic where they picked up a win over Georgia Tech.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (5-23) is led on offense by Hannah Russell and her .292 batting average. Russell is also second on the team with 12 RBIs. Taylor Burns' 14 RBIs lead the Broncos and she is hitting .266 with four doubles, a triple, and a home run. Eleni Spirakis has 11 RBIs and Ellie Fisher leads the team with 16 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.

In the circle, Micaela Vierra has thrown a team-leading 68 innings. She has appeared in 20 games and made 11 starts with four complete games and one shutout. Aubree Kim has pitched in 19 games and made 12 starts with one complete game. She has tossed 57 1/3 innings with a team-high 38 strikeouts.

THE BULLDOGS
Fresno State (19-15) is hitting .286 as a team and has scored 183 runs behind 35 home runs, six triples, and 48 doubles.

Hayleigh Galvan leads the Bulldogs with a .398 batting average and has hit five home runs with 25 RBIs. Savanna McHellon leads the team in home runs (12) and RBIs (31) and is hitting .333. Miranda Rohleder has scored a team-leading 33 runs with a .317 batting average.

Danielle East has started17 games and appeared in 21 with seven complete games and three shutouts. In a team-leading 85 2/3 innings, she has fanned 93. Samantha Mejia has tossed 49 1/3 innings in 19 games including three starts.

Gates to the Santa Clara Softball Stadium, as well as its ticket booth, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to first pitch. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
