STOCKTON, Calif. – Aubree Kim tossed the fourth no-hitter in Santa Clara history Saturday afternoon in game one and Santa Clara softball split with Pacific by scores of 2-0 and 5-4 in 10 innings.
The last Bronco no-hitter was on April 28, 2004 when Jamie Forman-Lau threw a five-inning perfect game. The last seven-inning no-hitter was April 29, 2003 when Forman-Lau didn't allow a hit at Saint Mary's.
Game 1
Kim (4-16) was the story of game one, allowing just one baserunner via a walk in the complete game and punching out eight. She retired the first 16 batters before walking Caitlyn Sung with one out in the bottom of the sixth.
Santa Clara (7-33, 2-8) scored the only run it would need in the top of the fourth. Ellie Fisher led off with a single to second and ended up on third with one out on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Taylor Burns followed with a ground ball to make it 1-0.
Marissa Young (4-10) went the distance for Pacific (16-25, 5-5) and pitched well but got the loss. She allowed two runs on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
Game 2
Pacific (16-25, 6-5) finally broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the 10th when Sung hit a walk-off single down the left field line to give the Tigers the win. It was their first run since the second inning.
Santa Clara (7-34, 2-9) starter Micaela Vierra (3-11) settled down after giving up four runs in the first two innings and didn't allow another run until the 10th. Overall, she allowed five runs, four earned, on 10 hits with five walks and a strikeout.
Sydney Lahners, Rachel Sellers, Molly Bourne, and Sung all had an RBI for Pacific with Talli Shepherd, Lahners, and Ralene Estrada each picking up two hits.
Hammer (3-3) picked up the win in three shutout innings out of the bullpen. She allowed two hits and struck out one.
After falling behind almost immediately, the Broncos battled back to get within a run after one in the fourth and two in the fifth before evening the score at 4-all in the top of the seventh. Down to their last strike, Hannah Russell scored Ellie Fisher with a single through the left side.
Samantha Johnson-Needham led the Bronco offense with three hits and a double. Fisher, Eleni Spirakis, Russell, and Kelsie Barnard also collected two hits apiece with Taylor Burns and Russell adding RBIs.

"Aubree was confident and comfortable in the circle to today. She was cruising. She attacked hitters and got more confident with every at-bat and that confidence waivered. Her presence out there was impeccable. The defense was great behind her so she wasn't afraid to throw it in there and let the defense make a play. We've seen her ups and downs this year and she's battled for weeks to get better and it was great to see everything come together for her."
