Softball Drops Nonconference Finale at Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. – In the final nonconference game of the year, Santa Clara softball fell at Stanford 5-1 Tuesday evening.

The Cardinal (23-26) snapped their 10-game losing streak by scoring five runs over the final three innings.

Lauren Frost led Stanford with a double and two RBIs with Hannah Howell and Molly Fowkes also adding RBIs. Whitney Burks and Howell both had two hits and scored a run.

Maddy Dwyer (12-8) went six innings to get the win and allowed a run on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

A two out rally by the Broncos (7-36) in the top of the second knotted the score at 1-all. Jordan Dawkins singled and Kat Sanchez followed with an RBI double to left center.

Taylor Burns also added a hit with Hannah Russell and Samantha Johnson-Needham both taking a walk.

Aubree Kim (4-18) took the loss in five innings. She allowed four runs but just two were earned on five hits with four walks.
