Softball Falls to Army, Has Second Game Suspended

NORTHIRDGE, Calif. – Santa Clara softball dropped an 8-0 game to Army in six innings and had a game suspended with the score 1-1 against CSUN in the fifth inning Saturday at the CSUN Early Bird Classic.

The Black Knights (3-5) put up a three-spot in the third to get on top 4-0. The scoring began with a bases loaded error by the Bronco defense.

Army would add two more runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to finish it off.

Madi Gilmore led the offense with four RBIs and a pair of hits while Emily Ballesteros had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs.

Jolie Duong (3-2) tossed a 6-inning complete game, allowing just two hits and walk with two strikeouts to pick up the win. She also had two hits with a run scored and an RBI.

Regan Dias and Kelsie Barnard picked up the only Broncos (0-5) hits with Jordan Dawkins drawing a walk.

Lauren Anderson (0-3) started and got the loss in 2 1/3 innings. She allowed four runs on four hits with a strikeout.
