Softball Begins Silicon Valley Classic II Friday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball hosts its second tournament in three week, the Silicon Valley Classic II, Friday through Sunday. The Broncos host Weber State at 2 p.m. and Friday, Cal State Fullerton at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, and CSUN at 9 a.m. and Northern Kentucky at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Broncos canceled their trip to the Colorado State Classic last weekend due to bad weather.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (2-10) has scored 37 runs this season with a .248 batting average and a .340 on-base percentage with 14 doubles, three triples, and three home runs.

Sammy Needham leads the team with a .471 average, seven RBIs, seven doubles and has scored eight runs. Regan Dias is hitting .400 with eight runs scored and six RBIs to go with a double and a triple while Eleni Spirakis leads the team with 12 runs scored and is batting .368 with three doubles, a triple, and a home run.

Lauren Anderson has tossed a team-high 36 1/3 innings in nine appearances, including seven starts and two complete games. Aubree Kim has appeared in six games and made three starts covering 14 2/3 innings with Lauren Schiek picking up a save in 15 2/3 innings with a team-leading 2.87 ERA. Dias has also pitched 12 innings on the year.

THE WILDCATS
Weber State (4-9) has been outscored 100-42 on the year. The Wildcats are hitting .283 as a team with 10 doubles, two triples, and a home run. They have a 10.09 team ERA with 24 strikeouts in 74 innings.

THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton (12-7) has outscored its opponents 88-65. The Titans are hitting .256 with eight doubles, one triple, and 22 home runs. They have a team ERA of 3.31 with 97 strikeouts in 122 2/3 innings.

THE MATADORS
CSUN (6-11) has been outscored 80-46 on the year. The Matadors are hitting .212 as a team with 20 doubles, one triple, and seven home runs. In the circle, they have a 5.25 ERA with 112 strikeouts in 109 2/3 innings.

THE NORSE
Northern Kentucky (3-8) has been outscored 51-31 this season. The Norse have a team batting average of .242 with 12 doubles, three triples, and two home runs. Their team ERA is 4.01 with 31 strikeouts in 73 1/3 innings.

Tickets: Tournament passes are $35 and will be good for games at Santa Clara and San Jose State. They are availbale for purchase only on Friday. Single day passes will be $15. Season or single-game tickets are available. Gates to the Santa Clara Softball Stadium, as well as its ticket booth, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to first pitch. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
